The movie ‘Taken’ has a simple plot:  a retired but still vital CIA agent tries to recover his daughter, who is taken by sex slave traders during a trip to Europe.  In the process, he kills dozens of bad guys.

For a father of a teenage girl, this kind of movie provides a lot of satisfaction:  without spoiling the movie, I can probably tell you that the bad guys get it in the end.  And these bad guys are really bad:  they make their money trafficking in young, innocent women — the more innocent, the better.  Jonah Goldberg calls the movie “Patriarchal Porn” because the hero good guy (Liam Neeson, the CIA agent) has an overwhelming desire to protect his daughter, and he succeeds in demonstrating that he is the real, true manly man.

Wow, this would be the fight of the century!  There is a rumor going around that Mitt Romney will move to NV to take on fellow Mormon Harry Reid in the 2010 Senate race!  Bam!  Smash!  Clank!  We haven’t seen this kind of action since the Mormon Mommies claimed they were KICKING SOME TRASH!

Unfortunately, rumors like this often prove to be untrue.  Please, Mitt, move to Nevada, just so we can help readership numbers!

This poll from the Daily Kos shows him running poorly against Sen.  Robert Bennett in a theoretical matchup.   In case you were wondering, Daily Kos claims Ken is a Democrat, but we have reason to believe Ken is actually an Independent.  My question is:  why is Ken even being mentioned?  Has he said he will enter Utah politics?  I did some Googling and could find no announcement that he was being recruited or wanted to test the political waters.  Is it that difficult to find a Democrat in Utah (Geoff B asked rhetorically)?

Just as I was about to press “publish” I saw a post from Ken Jennings today on his blog saying he will not run for this U.S. Senate seat.  You can read it here.  Ken claims he will not run so he can “spend more time with my family. (And when I say “with my family,” I mean, “screwing around on the Internet.”)”  Sounds like a non-denial denial to me.  (Just kidding, Ken).

I received the following e-mail today from the Protect Marriage coalition.  To sum up, the California Supreme Court will be hearing oral arguments next week on whether to allow Prop. 8 to stand.  Protect Marriage is calling for a National Day of Prayer on Sunday March 1 and giving some guidelines for people who want to make public demonstrations next week in front of the California Supreme court.  Read more for the letter.
