Posthumous Jewish baptisms

Apparently, there will be a new meeting between Church representatives and Jewish leaders this weekend over the issue of posthumous Jewish baptisms. Jewish leaders say they have new evidence that the Church is still baptizing the Jewish dead despite a 1995 agreement on the issue.

People often try to find a word to describe a generation or an era. We speak of the “Greatest Generation” or an “Era of Enlightenment.” While there are many words that might be applied correctly to our modern era, I think that one of the most apt would be “The Sarcastic Generation.”

An Interesting Paradox

Assertion Number 1: Women who dress provocatively are partially to blame for the sinful lust they help create in men who see them.
Typical Response: You are blaming the woman for the man’s choice to sin, which conclusion makes reason stare!

Assertion Number 2: Women would never dress provocatively if men didn’t encourage them, by being such pervs.
Typical Response: You go, girl!

Anyone see anything logically inconsistent in these two conversations? Discuss.

Guest Post: A Subtle Sign of a Decaying Society…

…or, that “Old-Man Richins” sure is square.

The youth in my ward have developed a habit – I won’t call it bad, although I certainly do not feel comfortable with it. This (relatively) new behavior may not be unique to my ward, nor in fact, may it be a recent development across the Church. I’m wondering if this particular phenomenon with my ward is typical of most wards and their youth, or perhaps my ward is atypical. If this phenomenon is common, then perhaps it is an indication of the times in which we live. But, if the experiences in my ward fall somewhere out on the fringe of normal behavior, then I won’t feel so uncomfortable with my opposition to it.
