A temple for Gilbert, Ariz.

Saturday afternoon, M*’s webmaster Scott Barber emailed me a link to a Mormon Times article announcing a temple for Gilbert, Arizona.

My first reaction to the news was, “Wow!!”

Even today, I am still stunned and excited that another temple is to be built in Arizona. What excites me even more is that I will likely be in the new temple district. Continue reading

Mormons appear in the most interesting places….

In 1888, a utopian novel arrived on the scene that, for almost two decades, heavily influenced nearly every area of public life.  It spurred the creation of a political party that furnished the first socialist to run for national office.  Several hundred clubs formed around the idea of promoting the ideas in the book.  And it doesn’t once mention Mormons, which is not surprising.  So, in doing research on this book, the last thing I expected was to find a “defense” of Mormonism coming from a New York Lawyer. “Reflections of Christ”: Fireside

Sunday night my stake hosted a fireside where Brother Mark Mabry and others involved in the “Reflections of Christ” exhibit shared their testimonies of Christ through the spoken word, music, video and pictures.

Having previously seen the exhibit and video, I was there mostly to enjoy the music and to hear Brother Cameron Trejo and Brother Mabry share their testimonies.

Sadly, my words can do little to convey the power of the music, video, testimony and spirit present during the fireside. Sufficient to say, many eyes were filled with tears throughout the entire presentation.
