Anybody interested in the 2008 election…

…and in the Church…should watch this entire video.

To sum up: Mitt Romney was secretly videotaped by an Iowa radio show host. The host then starts claiming Romney violated Church rules by at one time supporting abortion rights. Romney is visibly upset and gives some testy responses. Then, during a break, Romney gets into an incredible debate with the radio host that touches on Cleon Skousen, Mormon doctrine and many other interesting topics.

Could I please ask that nobody comment on this until they have watched the entire video, which is 20 minutes long? Some of the best bits are near the end. Thanks.

FAIR Conference 2007

I’ve just returned from the annual FAIR conference. ‘Twas a lovely time. You all should come next time (7-8 August 2008). I took almost no notes, but instead just sat and listened, so I’ll keep with the minimalist theme and share very few thoughts. Appropriate behavior for Sacrament meetings

As some of you may know, the Church has released a new pamphlet dealing with the issue of Same Sex Attraction. A copy of the new pamphlet can be found here.

The discussion of this new pamphlet sparked some interesting comments at T&S. (And I’m sure elsewhere — sorry, I have been on vacation for the last few weeks and haven’t been keeping up with my reading).

I’m not interested in re-hashing all of the old discussions on SSM. However, I am interested in a few comments MikeinWeHo made. (See comment #29 and subsequent comments, including a response from Adam G).

Basically, Mike, who is gay, would like to feel more comfortable in some hypothetical future coming to Sacrament meeting with his gay partner and their child. Is that appropriate?
