Why would you get boosted?

The media is pushing you to freak out about the Omicron variant of COVID-19, but the truth is the virus mutation is relatively harmless. There have been no more than a handful of deaths attributed to Omicron worldwide, and even those deaths are questionable. Leading British virologist Clive Dix said:

“We’re not seeing serious disease yet and we’re not seeing death. The picture looks like it’s now a milder virus – and that’s what you expect with viruses. They mutate to become more transmissible – they’re not looking to be deadly, because otherwise they don’t get transmitted,” Dix explained.

In fact, many experts in the field say that Omicron is displacing the much more dangerous Delta variant and will give people immunity to more deadly variants. What this means is that COVID-19 is mutating into a background pathogen — like the common cold and the flu — that will be around for decades to come. Yes, some people will die each year — just as they do from the cold and the flu — but the numbers will be manageable and, for most people, our immune systems will adjust and provide us protection from serious illness and death.

So when it comes to the vaccines, most of us must ask ourselves: why would we get vaccinated or get a booster? If you have natural immunity, meaning you have gotten the virus and are now healthy, it turns out that getting vaccinated may be harmful:

“If natural immunity is strongly protective, as the evidence to date suggests it is, then vaccinating people who have had covid-19 would seem to offer nothing or very little to benefit, logically leaving only harms—both the harms we already know about as well as those still unknown,” says Christine Stabell Benn, vaccinologist and professor in global health at the University of Southern Denmark. The CDC has acknowledged the small but serious risks of heart inflammation and blood clots after vaccination, especially in younger people. The real risk in vaccinating people who have had covid-19 “is of doing more harm than good,” she says.

A large study in the UK32 and another that surveyed people internationally33 found that people with a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection experienced greater rates of side effects after vaccination. Among 2000 people who completed an online survey after vaccination, those with a history of covid-19 were 56% more likely to experience a severe side effect that required hospital care.33

Patrick Whelan, of UCLA, says the “sky high” antibodies after vaccination in people who were previously infected may have contributed to these systemic side effects. “Most people who were previously ill with covid-19 have antibodies against the spike protein. If they are subsequently vaccinated, those antibodies and the products of the vaccine can form what are called immune complexes,” he explains, which may get deposited in places like the joints, meninges, and even kidneys, creating symptoms.

In this environment, in which the risk is almost exclusively from a virus that is relatively harmless, it makes no sense at all to go and get a booster shot. And indeed the scientific literature is pointing this out.

A new Dutch study titled “SARS-CoV-2 Omicron VOC Transmission in Danish Households” found that Omicron is a lot more infectious than Delta. But we also find this information:

“Comparing households infected with the Omicron to Delta VOC, we found an 1.17 times higher SAR [secondary attack rate] for un-vaccinated, 2.61 times higher for fully-vaccinated and 3.66 times higher for booster-vaccinated individuals, demonstrating strong evidence of immune evasiveness of the Omicron VOC.”

The higher infectiousness for injected people is increasingly clear; the data shows that Omicron appears to prefer the jabbed, based on hospitalization numbers and information from areas that track breakthrough cases. But this study shows a significantly higher infection rate for BOOSTED people, which suggests that the more jabs you get, the more likely you are to catch Omicron, and presumably, any future variant derived from Omicron.

This should be crystal clear: the study shows that if you get boosted you are MORE LIKELY to catch the latest mutation of COVID-19.

A new Canadian study titled “Effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines against Omicron or Delta infection” similarly found negative efficacy of the jabs against the Omicron variant, especially starting 90 days after the second shot.

The study also found protection from Omicron from the second shot dropped to essentially zero after 30 days. Regarding boosters, the study found that while protection increased immediately after receiving the third jab, its efficacy quickly fell to 37% after only seven days following the third shot.

No study has ever been done on the long-term health consequences of the boosters, for adults or for children. I want to repeat that. No study has ever been done on the long-term health consequences of the boosters.

So, why would you inject yourself –and especially your children — with a cocktail of who knows what when the available scientific evidence indicates you are more likely to be harmed than helped by the booster?

Meanwhile, public health officials continue to urge you to take the jabs, and they are already talking about the need for a second booster in a few months. Friends, let’s use some basic common sense. If the booster is so beneficial, why would another one be necessary? Are you really going to go get another booster every four months for the rest of your lives, when the dominant variant of the virus is less dangerous than the flu or common cold?

A last point: the Church’s guidance on vaccination says: ‘We know that protection from the diseases they cause can only be achieved by immunizing a very high percentage of the population.” Immunization includes natural immunity, which multiple studies show is even more protective than vaccination. Vaccination early in the epidemic was appropriate for many people, especially the elderly or those with co-morbidities. At this point, virtually all Latter-day Saints will have caught COVID-19 or been vaccinated, which means they are immunized. Don’t get boosted, people!

  1. Seems like Omicron is the answer we need. It is nature’s vaccine. It is highly contagious so a lot of people are getting it, it is comparable in severity to regular flu, and it provides immunity while displacing the more serious strains of Covid. Sounds like a blessing.

  2. Seems like the same logic applies to being vaxxed if you are currently unvaxxed. Our family has decided against being vaxxed at all and we are doing just fine. We are pretty sure we have already had the disease anyway and it was no big deal.

  3. This situation eerily reminds me of the end times series of books by Jessica Draper and Richard D. Draper (who was my Institute teacher in San Diego in 1976). The books begin with a company making a vaccine to allow people to engage in all sorts of perverted sexual behaviors with no risk of any kind of infection. Supposedly the vaccine prevents all diseases; then it is revealed that without boosters continuously for the rest of your life your immune systems breaks down and you die a horrible death. There is collusion between the company, the FDA, a corrupt senator, etc. That’s just the beginning; the rest of the book and the subsequent two detail all the events leading up to the second coming. Great series! Not exactly the same as today’s news, but a similar collusion between entities, and the government overreach, and the divisive response of church members is evident.
Anyway, today’s government is so corrupt and untrustworthy that it beggars belief that LDS, and others who recognize the light of Christ, can’t see how nefarious their pronouncements are. Why does anyone trust them?
My husband got vaccinated (March 2021) because he wanted to be able to go back to full time in class school. He teaches industrial technology at a high school. Wood shop, small engine repair, robotics, CAD, etc. Very difficult to engage students and complete projects on Zoom. I chose not to be vaccinated, prayed about my decision and had an instant feeling of peace come over me. Our adult daughter, a graduate student, also chose not to be vaccinated. In September 2021 my husband came down with covid and four days later so did I. (We think he got it from a student who was a recent illegal immigrant.) His was more respiratory, mine was more intestinal in nature. We both spent a short time in the hospital. Our daughter either never got it, or it was so mild she thought it was just tiredness. She was our angelic nurse through the whole episode. We wish we could be tested for our anti-body levels to see what our natural immunity is now. Our daughter served four years in the Air Force and was sick only after she got her annual flu shot. She tested negative through the whole six weeks of nursing us.
It is difficult for me to watch General Conference and see all the GA’s wearing masks. If they are vaccinated and/or have had the disease, what is the point? And why wear a mask when sitting quietly, only to remove the mask to speak? Makes no sense at all. Same in our local branch meetings. The farce of those wearing masks, adjusting them, holding them in their hands while speaking, etc. is hard to watch.
I’m grateful to come here and read truth, sense, and encouragement. Keep up the good work.

  4. Rozy, your comment means more than you know. Jacob Hess and I may be the most hated faithful LDS writers in history. You would be sickened to see all of the hate mail I have gotten — including from former LDS friends — because I have dared to express an opinion with which they disagree. I am ashamed for these people, but undaunted because I have a strong testimony of the Gospel, Church leadership and the Savior. My testimony of the Church has never been stronger.

You are of course correct that the whole mask thing is a ridiculous farce. In my ward, 90 percent of the people wear masks for Sacrament meeting and then a few days later these very same people go to a holiday party all unmasked. I love these people, but we all will look back on this period with shame and embarrassment at some point in the future and wonder why we went along with this massive societal sham.

I think it is important not to blame the Brethren, however. They are walking on a tightrope trying to run a worldwide church in an environment when most people appear to be going insane. This cannot be easy. I support their decisions — even while recognizing that they seem incongruent to me — because I recognize their ultimate goal is to spread the Gospel in an increasingly evil world. And that is, of course, the most important thing, promoting the Gospel.

  5. Anne, yes.

Aaron, if you have natural immunity you are immunized and according to Church guidance there is no reason for you to take the vaccine.

  6. Anne, good one. Of course this particular talk was censored off of Youtube. Can’t have people expressing Unapproved Opinions!

  7. I’m sure our family has had covid several times, I know we’ve been exposed at least 4 times. Over Christmas I was actually very sick with something respiratory, but did not panic, or run to a test center (in fact, all of the testing centers in my very small town closed down for 2 weeks over the holiday break — some public health crisis). I just took my Vit C and D and rested, now I’m better. I would love to see more LDS advocating for liberty and pushing back on government overreach. I understand the church leadership having to balance a lot of different factors in the Church’s CV19 response. But I do have to roll my eyes when some of them talk about how safe the vaccines are. Not really for us. Living in New Mexico, we still are under heavy Covid restrictions, however I have chosen to engage in civil disobedience. I do not wear a mask to church or most other places. As my husband’s vaccine injury has manifested itself in some very serious ways, including leaving work in an ambulance and a suspected heart attack, I have had little patience for the Cult Covidians and government whimsy that leave me to plead with God every night to spare my husband’s life so I’m not a widow and my kids are not orphans. I’ve maintained that keeping schools open and kids mask free in the spring of 2020 was the hill to die on, but not many people were interested in that … so here we are 2 years later, entering the third year of this and seeing the powers and voices that be double/triple/n-th down on their narratives and I just turn them all off and do my own thing.

  8. Joyce, I continue to pray for your husband and the many other people who have suffered adverse reactions to the vaccines. Be strong — you are not alone!

  9. Devin, I completely agree. Some people cannot watch it on Spotify, so here it is on Rumble. Of course it was censored on Youtube because the people cannot be threatened by something that might contradict The Narrative:

    https://rumble.com/vrrdsc-dr.-robert-malone-explains-how-dire-the-situation-is-in-the-usa-full-interv.html

I also fully recommend this interview with Peter McCullough:

    https://rumble.com/vqx8ma-dr-peter-mccullough-with-joe-rogan-the-joe-rogan-experience-1747.html

Anybody who claims to care about this issue must watch these two interviews. For many people who have bought into the COVID cult but who have semi-open minds, these interviews might blow your minds a bit. But new information is always a good thing (or at least smart people used to think that).

  10. Geoff, I hope my comment about GA’s didn’t come across as criticizing. I understand that they govern a worldwide church and are doing all they can to show concern for and actions during the current situations so that the church can continue the work of preaching the gospel, and using temples. I love the brethren and sisters we sustain as leaders. I know they are called of God and I do my best to follow their teachings. I don’t envy their jobs at all. I know we are led by the Savior through His prophets and I thank God for prophets every day. Where would we be without them?
I’m glad I can offer encouragement to you in a reciprocation of all the good you do. “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” (Matt. 5:10-12)

  11. Thank you Geoff, I appreciate your prayers for my family. Just a side note as well, my husband needed a priesthood blessing one night. He was really hesitant, but I knew that’s what he needed. Since we cannot call on our ministering brothers, I pulled out the ward map and just called down the street till I found someone home. This brother was the husband of my former primary teaching companion. He was really thankful to be asked and came right over. He & the other brother told me, they didn’t have many opportunities to give priesthood blessings outside of their families. After they left, I thought about what I’d been reading in the Doctrine & Covenants about the priesthood and faith. I hope that thru all of this, we can all call upon the elders of the Church for more blessings more acts of faith — for ourselves, but also for them. Men need the opportunity to bless others, and to exercise the priesthood they hold. I am very thankful for these brothers, my neighbors, who were so quick to come to our service.

  12. Dana Perino on Fox News just railed on the president for continuing to say it’s a pandemic of the unvaccinated. She said she’s been vaxed and boosted and she spent Christmas so sick from Covid. Geraldo Rivera apologized because he’s been shaming the unvaxed and he is fully vaxed and boosted and got Covid over the holiday as well. Surprise surprise.

  13. Geoff B. asks “Why would you get boosted?”
I understand this is mostly a rhetorical question, but I’m providing the reasoning and motivation as too why I chose to not only get the initial two doses of vaccine, but to get boosted when that was an option as well.
First, I need to explain that I care primarily about minimizing the risk of my parents (mid to upper 80s in age, but in very good health) of dying from a COVID related cause. My response to the pandemic has primarily been seen through that lens. My family situation is such that my children are all adults (ages ranging from 21 to 31) so I (luckily) haven’t had to deal with the very real struggles associated with shutdowns and younger children.
Since the government tracks deaths from COVID by vaccination status it is a simply matter to track the effectiveness of the vaccines at preventing death. At their peak effectiveness the non-vaccinated folks were dying at a rate about 14 to 15 times the rate of the vaccinated folks (that’s the rate of death per 100,000 of the relevant population, not the raw number of deaths- see:https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/united-states-rates-of-covid-19-deaths-by-vaccination-status?country=~All+ages). However, this difference has declined dramatically as new variants have come along, and new treatment options have been developed. The most recent data (which is a few months old) show that the differential has fallen such that the death rate for the non-vaccinated folks is only about four times the death rate for vaccinated folks. That differential in the death rates is likely to continue to decline a little bit as Omicron displaces the more deadly variants. (But just as with the flu, the death rate is likely to remain considerably higher – likely at lest twice as high or higher – for those who do not receive the vaccinations in most years going forward.)
But even with the falling differential in the death rates for me reducing the likelihood of death (of my parents) for whatever the risk is by approximately 80% means it is more than worth it to me to get vaccinated and keep my vaccination status “current”. Others, of course, might weigh those risks and benefits differently and make a different choice.
Omicron spreads much more quickly its R0 number is much higher, and it is infecting both vaccinated and non-vaccinated, but it also seems less deadly – although with the higher number of cases the number of deaths won’t drop quite as quickly as we might hope. But given that only about half of the world’s population is vaccinated (and many of those folks have been vaccinated with much less effective vaccines than those commonly available in the US) there will be a large number of hosts available for the virus to continue to mutate, so new variants are sure to keep popping up for quite some time. If we are lucky those new variants will continue down the Omicron path, but there is no guarantee. However, given the ability to sequences the virus’s genetics, and observe the actual structure, it will continue to be possible to match/tweak the mRNA vaccines to match what is required. Given my personal risk preferences I will continue to gladly be injected with each of those future updated vaccines as necessary (or just get a booster version of them if needed).

  14. Forgive me, Geoff, for always looking forward to, and reading, your posts over the last year and not saying thank you each time. You (and Jacob) deserve to be reminded that you are not alone either.
My husband and I are also not vaccinated. We have been suffering through this along with everyone else, but it has been particularly acute for my husband with the mandates. He is a Lt. Col. in the Air Force, and is also a commercial pilot so is getting squeezed from both sides. He is currently appealing his Religious Accommodation denial with the AF and does not know from day-to-day whether he will have to leave the AF – which he is saddened, but willing to do to support the Oath he took to defend the Constitution. This same nightmare is being suffered by thousands of good, God-fearing, military men and women across the world. Please keep them in your prayers too.
Your posts have been something I’ve looked for for encouragement, for common-sense, and to be uplifted. And not just for the academic facts (and all of the graphs, studies, sources, etc. you provide), but spiritually for your bold testimony and support of our Church and its leaders at the same time.
Your posts have been especially helpful because while my husband is not a member of the Church, I have been able to share several of your posts with him, giving him the much-needed “we’re not alone” encouragement, but also an example of a Latter-day Saint who is speaking up and cares about the principles of liberty and free-agency as much as he does – something I think has given him more appreciation and respect for us Latter-day Saints in general.

    * And to Joyce, thank you also for highlighting the needs of Priesthood holders to bless us, and in turn be blessed. That is a wonderful point.

  15. HIllary, thanks for this comment! It really does help. Big time. We will all get through this, but we get through this better if we stand up for principles of liberty and medical freedom while at the same time supporting the Brethren and our local Church leadership. Sometime in the next few years people will begin to emerge from the mass formation psychosis that they are in right now, and they will marvel that they ever accepted these lockdowns, and these masks and the vaccines for a virus with a 99.7 percent survival rate. They will feel guilty and ashamed. And as the vaccines fail, and more and more people suffer adverse health reactions to these experimental vaccines, including millions of deaths, heart attacks and other problems, there will be many people who abandon the Church claiming that the Brethren “should have warned us.” This is not the job of the Brethren. They did not warn Germans to oppose Hitler. The Brethren have their eyes on other things, and I support them as watchmen on the tower. But there will need to be people like the people on this blog, and those who read this blog, who help people come back to the Church when these things happen.

To understand the mass formation psychosis that is affecting many of your friends and relatives right now, please watch this:

  16. Geoff, beautifully stated. Truth is truth despite all the efforts of Madison Avenue and the American Pravda.

  17. Everything the First Presidency and Apostles have said on the matter about immunization ending the pandemic has been fairly well proven accurate, except for the notion of vaccines being safe and effective.

It’s pretty nonsensical on its face, I I just assume it was a minor mistake with significant ramifications when they said, “Available vaccines have proven to be both safe and effective”

Is a vaccine that is available with 2x the mrna equally as safe and effective as one that has half the amount? What about a vaccine that only requires one shot and isn’t that effective as it turns out and now is suggested that the JnJ shot should not be taken if there are alternatives due to blood clotting in some cases. Clearly that’s not safe and effective. There are other vaccines that are not approved in the USA because the FDA has not deemed them safe and effective, and yet the First Presidency has declared them safe and effective.

    A few possibilities:
    1. All the adverse reaction data is wrong, coincidental and there have been no vaccine injuries and they are all truly safe and effective.
    2. The First Presidency and Apostles, with several doctors on board, trusted too readily in their professional peers and were wrong, at least in some degree, on their pronouncements.
    3. A subset of 2, the Brethren were pressured to say these things as part of a concerted effort via government to use their influence on members to get vaccinated.

I believe #3 is part of the mix, which speaking as an American is very concerning to see government extending it’s propaganda campaign into churches, muddying the first amendment.

I can absolutely defend their statements and view things from the perspective of someone who is pro covid vax. But I can’t really explain, when I adopt that perspective, how the VAERS system has been inundated with so many injury claims that vax proponents just claim is coincidence. Didn’t anti-vaxers exist before covid shots? Weren’t there all kinds of required vaccines before covid shots? Wouldn’t there be an incentive for tens of thousands of sour grapes to report vaccine injury before?

Let’s remember, it’s not as if the vax was mandated and suddenly a bunch of vaers reports occurred. There was a massive influx of vaers reports before any mandates, and when people were waiting in line to get shots. That data should bring us back to incorrect statement that “Available vaccines have proven to be both safe and effective.”

The end result of a year long vaccination campaign that vaccinated more people in history is the disease has spread more than before. If vaccination was effective, numbers would be reduced among vaccinated and unvaccinated alike. As we know, vaccinated individuals are carriers (perhaps with less symptoms in some cases) who are infecting the unvaccinated. This is a very dangerous path to be on with a vaccination campaign.

We will certainly see some very serious consquences in the coming years and that statement of being safe and effective will not look well. Much better, in my lowly view, to simply say, “studies have shown severe disease and death from COVID is drastically reduced among at-risk vaccinated individuals, we urge individuals to consider the wise counsel from their medical advisors and leaders and make an informed decision for themselves.”

Of course, that statement would not fly with many governments across the world, including our own, which again raises the disturbing first amendment issues if we believe that the church is being pressured (or feels pressure without it being spoken) to behave a certain way.

  18. The final variant will be the “Pfizer makes a trillion dollars” variant. There’s a mindboggling amount of money sloshing around over this.

  19. John Swenson Harvey,
Thank you for stating so clearly and thoroughly what are also my reasoning and motivations regarding the Covid vaccinations and boosters. Your situation is very similar to my own.
