201 Temples?

Prior to today, there were 189 temples announced, under construction or dedicated. With these 12 today, we now are at 201 temples in the works!

This list, as of today, does not include the 12 announced.

Gerald (Rameumptom) Smith is a student of the gospel. Joining the Church of Jesus Christ when he was 16, he served a mission in Santa Cruz Bolivia (1978=1980). He opened the door for missionary work to African Americans in Montgomery Alabama in the 1980s. He's served in two bishoprics, stake clerk, high council, HP group leader and several other callings over the years. While on his mission, he served as a counselor in a branch Relief Society presidency.

I was delighted by the announcement of 12 new temples, but I also foresee a day when new temples might become a phenomenon that doesn’t warrant announcement in General Conference, because they will have become so numerous. Much as how the call to individuals to serve missions used to be issued at General Conference, but is now something that is done via app (or mailed letter).

    On the other hand, I would be delighted if it were possible for my local temple to be renovated while another temple was available within an hour’s drive.

  2. 201? Thank heavens that the Primary kids do not have to memorize them all like we used to in the old days.
