There is news about the Vancouver BC Canada Temple. The First Presidency has announced the opening dates of that temple. The open house will be held from Friday, 9 April 2010 to Saturday, 24 April 2010 (except Sundays). The cultural celebration will be held on Saturday, 1 May 2010.
The temple dedication will be on Sunday, 2 May 2010 (in three sessions)
Ordinance Work begins on Monday, 3 May 2010

Not yet. Elder M. Anthony Burns, an Area Seventy in the North America Southeast Area, has indicated that the desired site for the Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple is located in western Broward County and not in Fort Lauderdale proper. An official announcement from Church Headquarters is expected at a later date.

I am hopeful for a good outcome on the Phoenix temple. Residents are trying to stop it and have hired a lawyer to help.
2010 should be a great year for Arizona and temples.
The Gila Valley Temple will be dedicated. Construction is to be completed in the spring.
Ground breakings should be held for the Gilbert and Phoenix Temples in the summer of 2010 if all goes well.
Right now they are working to put all the power lines underground at the Gilbert Temple site. The church is flipping the bill on it.

More precisely, the desired site is on the western side of the populated portion of Broward County. A temple in the western half of Broward County would be attended mostly by alligators.
LL, this particular temple will be on an airboat in the Everglades and will double as a tourist attraction. Kind of like a combination Polynesian cultural center/temple, but for South Florida.

The Phoenix City Council approved the temple. Construction will begin in 18 months. There are no building permits yet.
