About Geoff B.

Geoff B has had three main careers. Some of them have overlapped. After attending Stanford University (class of 1985), he worked in journalism for several years until about 1992, when he took up his second career in telecommunications sales. In 1995, he took up his favorite and third career as father. Soon thereafter, Heavenly Father hit him over the head with a two-by-four (wielded by the Holy Ghost) and he woke up from a long sleep. Since then, he's been learning a lot about the Gospel. He still has a lot to learn. Geoff's held several Church callings: young men's president, high priest group leader, member of the bishopric, stake director of public affairs, media specialist for church public affairs, high councilman. He tries his best in his callings but usually falls short. Geoff has five children and lives in Colorado.

  1. This morning I though on something, since I was converted in Argentina when I was 12 years old, I asked myself on how many conferences I have participated? the answer is 56 ..what’s your number? Everyone has a favorite one, or favorite speaker…what’s yours?

  2. Checking in from Newcastle, UK! It’s 5pm and time for General Conference!!!

  3. Sonia, I go to Argentina once a year and have been to the BA temple. I lived there for a year in 1990. I have listened to 24 conferences, several of them in Portuguese when I lived in Brazil. Elder Maxwell may be my favorite, but I now liking Elder Uchtdorf almost as much.

  4. Elder Oaks on sacrifice: he is listing many of the things that active members do, and we don’t usually see that as a sacrifice. But I can tell you as an adult convert that there was a *lot* of sacrifice involved.

  5. I got a bit weepy when they released Sister Beck and her councelors. I love those women. I’m sure the next Gen RS Presidency will be great though.

  6. Pres. Uchtdorf’s talk on Sunday morning is amazing. Forgiveness, mercy, true tolerance and lack of judging. “Let us be known as people who have loved one to another.” “We must let go of our grievances.”

  7. Two very interesting comments so far in conference for Mormons of an intellectual bent: Elder Nelson condemns atheism by questioning the Big Bang as the only source of life. And Elder Christofferson appears to warn about too much intellectualizing the Church. More analysis in the days ahead.
