In no particular order:

1) Believing that exercising power over others brings happiness.
2) Believing that one cannot change for the better (this can manifest as “This is the way I am, so you better get used to it,” but also as “It’s no use even trying to be better.”)

I think this also goes back to a previous scripture about spending money and time on things that have no worth/value. Which, as Geoff pointed out, will not bring us happiness.

But more seriously, I think the two biggest temptations are:

1)Believing that more money and things will bring you happiness.
2)Believing that the preponderence of modern popular entertainment offers models that will bring happiness.

I used to classify blogging as a temptation, but my wife helped me to understand that it is actually an addiction.

Honestly, there are so many temptations/mists of darkness, I don’t think the server could handle the load if we listed them all!!
