Tanya, I just want to say that I love FAIR and I love your reports on the FAIR conferences. I wish I could find time to be there. I fear I may not find the time until all my kids are at least teenagers (considering I’m planning on have at least a couple more kids, that could be 15 years away).

Hmm. Too bad. I was hoping he'd respond to some of Metcalfs recent arguments, especially the stuff on the ordering of the Kirtland Egyptian Papers. Sounds like Gee's talk was like his paper in the latest FARMS Review.

Mike, I'd heard that the proofs had already been sent to Oxford. While it's plausible in this electronic age that a new galley is done, I'd be surprised.

...Richard Turley spoke about the Mountain Meadows Massacre. I think he said his book on MMM is coming out early next year.

The Turley/Leonard/Walker book on MMM has been long delayed as they've continued to discover new documents. They've given several tentative publishing dates over the years, so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't arrive "early next year." But hope springs eternal.

Thanks for writing up the conference, Tanya. It was nice to see you there, even though I didn't get a chance to say more than "hi".

John Gee mostly went over what we know of the fragments and scrolls Joseph had, and how long they likely were (seemed to be lots of calculus). Lots of Egyptology stuff. And all of it amounts to a “proves nothing for or against” the Book of Abraham.

So what was John Gee’s talk focusing in on? That was admittedly the one I was most interested in. Sorry I missed the conference. Maybe one of these years they can hold it on a weekend?

FAIR gets maligned fairly regularly, but I’m glad they exist. I always need both sides, or maybe all 120 sides LOL.
