Blog Pimping: Institutional Foil

Don’t mind me – I’m just taking advantage of the relatively large audience here to pimp a blog: Institutional Foil. It’s written by friend that I’ve met in person once, but have known online for many years. (I hope he doesn’t mind the advertising, as I didn’t ask.) I’m advertising it right now because his most recent post deserves to be more widely read.

So go forth and read, at least that one post.

  1. Thanks for the link. Good post.

I’m the teacher development teacher in my ward and have similarly wondered what exactly the SS president does. Haven’t spoken with him yet.

  2. Can we quit with the disgusting abuse of the English language–that word is so degrading. You only pimp prostitutes, and none of us should be doing that anyway. How about “Recommended Blog: Institutional Foil”?

  3. Carl, the traditional definition of “pimping” has evolved into the following definitions found in http://www.urbandictionary.com:

    1. When you are laughing so hard that you have to Pee In My Pants.. P I M P

    2. Being so aw[e]some* it hurts.

    3. To strongly promote and support a certain thing.

*Alas, it’s tough to trust a “hip” dictionary that can’t even spell “awesome” correctly.

  4. Carl, I’m afraid I must respectfully disagree. The English language is a fascinating but rapidly morphing thing. Though I agree with Elisabeth that a dictionary that can’t spell “awesome” is blight upon humanity 😉

  5. It’s interesting how different words have different meanings for some people. One of our posters used the word “putz,” a Yiddism (?) with which I have no problem despite its vulgar original meaning. On the other hand, I can’t get my mind around the word “pimp” not being vulgar. Maybe I’m just too old.
