Here’s the latest M* update: we are moving to a new server over Thanksgiving. Starting Wednesday night, I would ask for no new posts and no new comments until Monday Nov. 27. By then, we should hopefully be on our new server with new administrative help and new bloggers. Yet another thing for which to be thankful!!

Romney becomes the “conservative candidate”
I’ve been listening to a lot of conservative talk radio lately, and one thing I’ve heard since the Nov. 7 election is a lot of talk about the 2008 race. Nov. 7 was such a disaster for conservatives that we like to look forward rather than back and hope for better results in 2008.
One interesting thing I’ve noticed is that conservative talk radio is consolidating around Mitt Romney as the “conservative candidate.” In fact, Michael Medved has said that twice in the last week — Romney is basically the best chance for conservatives. And Medved also said Romney is a candidate who most reminds him of Reagan.
And today Romney had some choice things to say about being a conservative candidate and some negative comments about McCain.
Birthing news
So, it turns out there are more out-of-wedlock births in the U.S. than ever. And, interestingly, the births are not to teenagers — the good news is that out-of-wedlock births among teenagers is actually on the way down. More and more people in their 20s are simply deciding not to get married.
I would also like to lament the huge increase in C-sections. I am not begrudging mothers who get a necessary C-section (thank goodness that’s possible today). I am, however, lamenting doctors who push women to get C-sections when they are not necessary. That happened with my wife, and she had to really push back with a doctor who was trying to convince her to get an unnecessary C-section.

“Mormonisms”, or why is there so much fiber in my testimony?
During my stay at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, the subject of a large group meeting dealt with the bearing of testimony to those we would teach. We discussed how to properly bear testimony devoid of “Mormonisms” like: “without a shadow of doubt” and “with every fiber of my being”. In short, we learned to bear a short, simple testimony that served to emphasize principles taught in the missionary lesson.
